Midwest Homeschool Convention

Woohoo - I made it! After a very long day, and jumping through lots of hoops at the front desk, I am so glad to be sitting in my comfy hotel room here in downtown Cincinnati.

I walked by the vendor hall on my way to check in, and it was huge! I can't wait to get in there tomorrow and do some exploring. :)

Here are a few things I hope to accomplish while I'm here:

Visit the Vendor Hall and look at and/or purchase from the following:

-Apologia's Exploring Creation Series
-Pathway Readers
-Rocket Phonics (I want to look at their readers.)
-Rightstart Math
-Maestro Classics
-Mantle Ministries (Richard "Little Bear" Wheeler - he usually has lots of historically accurate toy weapons, clothing, coonskin caps, etc.)
-Nature's Workshop Plus
-Rainbow Resource
-Relaxed Homeschooling
-Gravitas (publisher of RealScience4Kids)

And I'm looking forward to hearing some awesome speakers for some much-needed inspiration and encouragement:

-Amanda Bennett (one of my faves!)
-Richard "Little Bear" Wheeler
-Mark Hamby (Lamplighter Publishing)
-Carol Barnier
-Karen "Spunky Homeschool" Braun
-Dr. Mary Hood

...to name a few.

Finally, I'm going to sleep late, hang out with my homeschooling friends, and get some much needed R&R!

(Thank you, Honey, for making this possible.)

  2. This sounds wonderful-I hope you have a fabulous time! I'm afraid I haven't been able to attend nearby conventions this year, and I'm really going to miss the inspiration/encouragement.

  4. I was there today! Wish I could go back tomorrow. It's probably a good thing for my wallet that I am not. :)

So which seminars did you end up going to? I really enjoyed meeting Spunky and the first Susan Wise Bauer seminar.

  7. I hope you had a great time! Hearing your ntoes makes me look forward to our conference. I need to do some planning before I go though.

Your weather studies also look like a lot of fun! Great job with all of the experiments!

  8. It's really fun to hear another mom excited about teaching her kids. I use (mostly) a literature approach to homeschooling so am always looking for new books. Thanks for sharing what you guys are up to and looking forward to hearing about the conference.

  9. Wish I could've been there. Hubby couldn't work it out to watch the kids, though. Hope you had a great time. Maybe I can go next year and we can meet face to face!
