Beethoven's Wig: Sing Along Symphonies

Last year someone on the FIAR boards recommended this CD to me. I checked it out from the library, and the whole family loved it! When we started learning about Beethoven a few weeks ago, the kids immediately began asking if we could listen to it again.

Sooo...I made a trip to Amazon. :)
It arrived a couple of days ago, and we listened to it yesterday during lunch.

Beethoven's Wig takes eleven different classical works by various composers and adds funny lyrics to them.

The kids really get into singing along with these, and some of the lyrics even give information about the composer or the time period in which he lived.

The orchestral performance of each piece is also included without the lyrics.

Now for the track list:

Beethoven's Wig (Symphony No. 5...Beethoven)
Franz Liszt the Famous Pianist (Hungarian Rhapsody #2...Liszt)
Please Don't Play Your Violin at Night (Eine Kleine Nachtmusik...Mozart)
Can you Can Can? (Can Can...Offenbach))
Haydn's Great Surprise (Surprise Symphony...Haydn) - This one is probably our favorite.
Kings and Queens of England (Trumpet Tune...Purcell)
Drip, Drip, Drip (Pizzicato from Sylvia...Delibes)
Harmony (The Merry Peasant...Schumann)
Hey Guitar Teacher (Bouree...Bach)
Tchaikovsky's Cannonball (1812 Overture...Tchaikovsky)

Click hereto listen to an audio clip. (At the top of the track list you'll find a button that says "Preview All". Click on that to navigate through the CD.)

My college music professors would be horrified if they knew I owned this CD, but they might change their tune if they could see (and hear) my kids running around humming the main theme from Beethoven's Fifth Symphony or Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. :)
