Hurricane in Ohio!

A quick note to say that we braved Hurricane Ike here in southwest Ohio on Sunday afternoon. I know. Very freaky.

Over half a million people in our area have been without power since then. We were among the fortunate minority. We kept our power, only losing cable, phone, and internet. We lost some flashing on the roof and had lots of huge limbs come down, but thanks be to the Lord, no trees fell on our house. Many roads are blocked, there's a shortage of gas, and grocery stores that are open are running on generators and are short on refrigerated goods.

I'll post more details later, but for now I just want to say we have so much to be thankful for. My prayers go out to everyone who was affected by the storm, especially those who were truly hit hard down on the coast.

  1. My parents live near Austin. My mom said they got a nice sea breeze from Ike. Here in IL though, we got some serious wind and rain. So bizarre! Glad you still have power.

  3. Shannon,

Are we neighbors??? Actually, we personally lost power 'til Monday around 3, but the major intersections near us (Winton and Gailbraith) had cops directing traffic until Thurs. And I think schools were out until then too.
My son was obsessed with tornadoes...but now it may switch to hurricanes. :) Good thing we homeschool and can "go with it". LOL
We live in Finneytown. How 'bout you? You can email me directly if you want. alphabakers29@aol.com
Well, take care! Oh, and BTW my mom in NW Ohio said their gas is down to $3.75/gal. now, so ours should go down soon too! Yipee!
