If you've never read Night of the Moonjellies, you really must check it out. Our kids are loving this book, and they had a ball tonight running their own diner, like the one in the story.
This book is the author's true story of working with his "Gram" and extended family at their New England seaside diner, MarGra's. It captures life by the sea, the excitement of discovery, and the loving bond between a boy and his grandmother. I can already tell this will be an all-time family favorite in our home.
Now for some pictures...
Sweet Pea and Giggly Girl have fun mixing the lobster roll ingredients.
Welcome to MarGra's! The kids got a kick out of wearing a paper hat like Mark did in the story. :)
A portion of what our menu had to offer...Lobster Rolls and Onion Rings. We also served hotdogs and french fries because we correctly guessed that the kids wouldn't like the lobster rolls. Mom and Dad, however, had seconds - yum!
(Our lobster roll recipe came from the Five In a Row Cookbook by Becky Jane Lambert, a terrific resource to go along with the stories in the Five In a Row curriculum.)
