Homeschool Memoirs: Agendas

If you've read my blog for any length of time, you can tell that I love curriculum and planning, so this is a fun meme for me!

We use a hodge podge of things in our homeschool.
We are a Charlotte Mason family, so we use a lot of her ideas including:

-Nature Study
-Composer Study
-Artist Study
-Copywork (a first for us this year)
-Lots and lots of living books!

We also enjoy lapbooking, notebooking, and unit studies around here - especially those from Five in a Row, Homeschool Share, and also some self-made ones.
Here is a sampling of the topics we'll explore this year.
(I am a believer in delight-directed studies, so my kids came up with some of these.)

-The Ocean
-Our Solar System
-Knights and Castles
-The American Revolution
-The Rainforest

Until this year we've done everything together, but my seven year old son is interested in some things that the girls may not be quite ready for yet. So...I'm going to try having a separate Preschool time just for the girls three times a week with their own units. We'll use Before Five in a Row and do a few other things like:

-Down on the Farm
-Nursery Rhymes
-Butterflies
-many different animal studies from Homeschool Share

Of course, if they want to join in on anything our seven year old is doing they're welcome to do that too - and vice versa!

Here are some other resources we'll use this year:

Bible - The Jesus Storybook Bible, felt board stories, Five in a Row Character Supplement
Reading - Reading Made Easy
Writing - Handwriting Without Tears
Math - RightStart
Art - Draw Write Now, Five in a Row, misc. arts and crafts projects to go with our unit studies

That about does it. I am looking for a good resource with a lot of different, fun science experiments, so if you have any suggestions feel free to leave a comment - Thanks!

  1. Hi Shannon,

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I love the Apologia studies by Jeannie Fulbright and you can purchase lapbook kits if you don't want to come up with your own.

We are just finishing the Jesus Storybook Bible. I cried most of the way through. It's awesome!
