Buggy Parfaits

This is a fun idea I found over at Homeschool Share. It was a yummy way to wrap up our unit on The Salamander Room.
Because I didn't have all of the ingredients listed in the original recipe, we improvised a bit and came up with this:

Ingredients:
1 pint whipping cream
approx. 20 chocolate chip cookies (We used store-bought.)
mini-marshmallows and chocolate chips (We used our imaginations and pretended these were bugs!)
clear plastic cups or clear glasses

Whip the whipping cream with an electric beater until it forms stiff peaks.
Gently fold in a little bit of sugar to taste. (We used about 1 tbsp.)
Crush the cookies and layer in bottom of cup.
Then add a layer of whipped cream.
Continue alternating layers and end with a layer of whipped cream on top.
Top with marshmallows and chocolate chips for your pretend bugs.

I think it would be really cute to use the HSS recipe with the plastic insects - I just didn't have time.
But these were pretty tasty, and the kids thought they were great!

  1. That looks like so much fun. I have thought about unit studies but I am not sure if I can do it.
